Long Beach Arena in Long Beach will have six performances only of Dralion from November 1 – 4. Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion (pronounced “Dra-lee-on”) draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.

The show’s name is derived from its two emblematic creatures: the dragon, symbolizing

the East, and the lion, symbolizing the West. In Dralion, the four elements that govern the natural order take on a human form. Thus embodied, each element is represented by its own evocative color: air is blue; water is green; fire is red; earth is ochre. In the world of Dralion, cultures blend, Man and Nature are one, and balance is achieved. The best part is when the ‘clowns’ have the humor for an adult subtlety to it but is a familiar show. There is not so much a narrative story-line to Dralion as other shows similar to this one. However, it has exotic elements, clever clowning, world class acts of amazing skill and lovely grace of 52 world-class acrobats, gymnasts, musicians, singers and comedic characters with beautifully evocative music, elegant costumes and many dancing dragons. Sometimes some people couldn’t applaud at the end of an act because most of them  were too amazed- just sat there, trying to process what they had just seen, as a spectator you will have a wonderful time!

“The Flat” is an emotionally riveting documentary

At age 98, filmmaker Goldfinger’s grandmother passed away, leaving him the task of clearing out the Tel Aviv flat that she and her husband shared for decades since immigrating from Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Sifting through a dense mountain of photos, letters, files, and objects, Goldfinger begins to uncover clues that seem to point to a greater mystery and soon a complicated family history unfolds before his camera. What starts to take shape reflects nothing less than the troubled and taboo story of three generations of Germans – both Jewish and non-Jewish – trying to piece together the puzzle of their lives in the aftermath of the terrible events of World War II.

It’s clear she knows nothing of her father’s war crimes. Or does she? In families, this fascinating film suggests, acknowledging or denying the darker truths of one’s legacy is a choice that must be made again and again, each and every day.

Vega is not an ordinary artist. Her recent nomination for the Latin Grammy in the category of Best Pop/Rock Album is undoubtedly recognition for a great album, but also for a great artist. “La Cuenta Atrás” (Sony Music), produced by Sebastian Krys, a renowned producer, “is an optimistic record” according to Vega, “this is the record I had to make; this nomination is definitely encouraging and reaffirming and keeps me working in the same direction”. For this record, Vega has had the collaboration of exceptional musicians such as Abe Laboriel Jr., David Levita, Chris Chaney and Robert J. Manning Jr.

A musical genre often times describes an artist’s personality, but in Vega’s case definitions don’t apply. She was born in Cordoba, Spain, as Mercedes Migel Carpio, and graduated from her career in advertising and public relations. Vega has a great passion: music who is a performer and songwriter of her own songs. She is actively involved in all aspects of her career: writing songs, and producing music and videos, where she is always involved in writing the screenplay as well as acting.
