You can get an eternal love in “Celeste and Jesse Forever”

By Jenny Alvarez

Celeste (Jones) and Jesse (Samberg) met in high school, married young and are growing apart.  Now thirty, they decide to get divorced and attempt to stay best friends while pursuing other relationships.  This plan is not as simple as they had imagined.

Celeste—imperious, successful and driven– is convinced that divorcing the boyish Jesse is the right thing to do.   Jesse passively accepts this transition into friendship, even though he still is in love with her. As the reality of their separation sets in, Celeste slowly and painfully realizes she has been cavalier about their relationship. But her timing with Jesse is less than fortuitous.

The film is a humorous and honest examination of a broken heart and the long, hard road it takes to heal it. When the film gets weaker, it’s because it has moved away from the funny-because-it’s-true aesthetic toward one that’s more broad and contrived: Celeste falling out of a garbage can she was snooping in just as Jesse arrives; a series of bad first dates that become exaggeratedly awful. Even though the storyline grows conventional, these two’s inherent sweetness gives the movie its heart – even if their characters may not end up together.

Finally, this movie is a reliable commercial genre and a decent supporting cast, and the main character faults herself for presuming she’s more intelligent than others, and so does the entire production. However, relationships are in that way, lots of laughs, and lots of heart.

When a person is caught cheating, is it possible to bury the hatchet? It is possible if both parties are willing to analyze the causes. However, we can never forget infidelity because our brain is incomparable to CPU in the computer as we do not have the “delete” button in our brain. Can infidelity be avoided? What about financial issues when there is crisis in your marriage? According to the American Psychological Association, 83 percent of women are stressed about money, compared with 78 percent of men. For Tiger Woods this lesson was difficult to learn it and after he, ranked fourth in the world, has won three of his past seven starts, most recently this past July 1st at the AT&T National.

Woods was asked about being “back,” whatever that means, and answering 2-1/2 years of questions about when he’d be “back.” Certainly, he is back after all his marital and divorce issues but now he is going to new places with new success. Tiger always let his game do the talking. The media is always trying to push him to lashing out but he’s always humble after a win and always respectful towards the other players. At the end, Tiger is back. His swing is in form and is putting fantastic.

A frenetic action thriller comes with “Safe House”

Reviewed by Jenny Alvarez

“No one is safe” especially with a rogue CIA agent who has been hiding for years, Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) one day turns himself in, and he’s brought to a safe house in Johannesburg, South Africa managed by low-level agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) for debriefing. When the Safe House is attacked by a group of mercenaries, Matt finds himself on the run with Tobin, while trying to get to the bottom of who wants him killed.

Brutal fight scenes and intensity in each scene with car chases added life to what would have been an overall flat movie and makes it more entertaining. Sometimes, the camera shakes a bit too much and detracts during a few encounters. Although Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) plays the same character over and over again and he hasn’t done much outside, is the opposite of Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) does have his moments to let loose.

There is a lack of feminine touch so all of the inner workings fail and unfortunately, “Safe House” just becomes too predictable even Director Espinosa did an extraordinary job of many action-packed sequences for the duration of some scenes. Now you can enjoy this movie on a DVD/blu-ray this coming June 5th with Master Audio 5.1 (English), Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (English DVS), DTS 5.1 Surround (French), DTS 5.1 Surround (Spanish) and subtitles in English, French, and Spanish.
