Tom Morello is a Revolutionist in Chicago Rally

Tom Morello performs at a National Nurses United rally and he pumps the crowd. He performs cover songs by Bruce Springsteen and rattles the Chicago protesters. Some protesters wore Robin Hood hats and nurse scrubs to represent the Robin Hood tax that would tax financial institutions, which they mean to impose. Tom stated that the Rally was for the 99% that was left out. As he was performing, his mic turns off and Tom assumes the Chicago police turned it off  and he yells “either by design or by accident,” Morello yelled “But that will not stop the show.” Tom’s mic eventually turned on and he continued to perform. Tom played songs such as “One Man Revolution” and “Union Song”. Police stated that the rally was peaceful overall.

 

Van Helen's Mysteriously Postpones Tour

The hard rock band Van Helen postpones their tour and no one knows why. They abruptly postponed their tour dates after their New Orleans show. The band had scheduled dates in Salt Lake City, El Paso, Cleveland, and had some sold out shows. Their representatives did not provide a comment or explanation about their reasons for canceling. According to a close source to the band, it was stated that the band members “hate each other”, however this reason has not been confirmed. On December 26, 2011, the band along with Roth announced a tour for 2012 and released their first album in 14 years, A Different Kind of Truth. 

Mick Jagger, Foo Fighters, and Arcade Fire to perform on 'SNL'

Mick Jagger, Foo Fighters, and Arcade Fire are scheduled to perform for the season finale of ‘Saturday Night Live’. Jagger will also be hosting the show. The Rolling Stones hosted the show back in 1978, but this time Jagger will be going solo. The song that the bands will perform is yet to be confirmed, but it is anticipated that they will perform a classic Rolling Stones song. The show will premier May 19.
 

Cinco de Mayo Celebration Pay Tribute to Adam Yauch

This year the Cinco de Mayo celebration took place at the Hollywood with performances by Incubus, Coldplay, Pennywise, Garbage, Silversun Pickups, and the Offspring, all with new music on the horizon. The second stage featured up-and-comers such as AWOL Nation, Of Monsters and Men, and Grouplove. Coldplay performed their own version of the Beastie Boys song “You Gotta Fight For Your Rights (To Party)”.  

Lady Gaga and the "White Devil"

 

Lady Gaga revealed in an interview that her past drug use was due to loneliness. She admitted that at 19-years-old she had mental and emotional problems. “I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still,” said Gaga. “It was just my piano and myself. I had a television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me.” This lead to cocaine use and dependency on the drug. “It was like the drug was my friend. I never did it with other people,” she said. “It’s such a terrible way to fill that void, because it just adds to that void, because it’s not real.” Lady Gaga had an epiphany and realized that the “white devil” was destroying her. She then decided to focus on her music.


Beastie Boys Member Dies

Adam Yauch, 47, dies of unknown causes. He was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2009, but it is not confirmed that cancer was the cause of his death. Ever since his diagnosis, he has gone through therapy and treatment. Yauch has a daughter and wife. The Beastie Boys have won multiple Grammy’s and were in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Skrillex to Perform in San Fran and Collaborate with Marley

 

Skrillex will be performing at this year’s Outside Land festival in San Francisco, along with Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jack White and the Foo Fighters. “It’s crazy- if you would’ve shown me this flier a year ago and took it back from the future, I would’ve never believed it” stated Skrillex. Skrillex will also be creating new music and collaborating with Damian Marley. They recently created a remix for the song “Make It Bun Dem”. “It’s staying true to the Rasta lingo,” says Skrillex. “It’s got a traditional dub vibe, but it’s very dancefloor friendly. It caters to his vocals really well.”

Wisin & Yandel are an enormous success as a duet of Urban Latin American music. Britney Spears' Co-Consevator is Jason Trawick

Britney Spears’ fiance, Jason Trawick, appeared in court and was given permission to be Spears’s co-conservator. This role allows Trawick to manage her personal affairs and have legal power over Spears’ well-being. Spears has been under his conservator watch under court rule since February 2008. Her father, Jamie Spears, has been involved as one of the individuals watching over his pop-star daughter. Jamie is “thrilled” to have Trawick participate.

"Young, Wild, and Free" is Cited for Marijuana Possession

The singer Wiz Khalifa was cited for Marijuana possession. The singer is known for his hit songs “Work Hard Play Hard” and “Black and Yellow”. Wiz was staying in a Holiday Inn on West End Avenue, when a receptionist complained and called the police. The police went to their room and reported saw Wiz throw a “blunt” out the window. The two admitted to having the marijuana and were given citations for misdemeanor possession.  Wiz is now”Young, Wild, and Cited”.
