One year ago today, Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron dove to one of the deepest spots in the Earth’s ocean – and what he found could be a “blockbuster” for science. Bill Whitaker spoke with Cameron about his find. On March 26, 2012, Cameron completed a solo dive into the Marina Trench, the deepest part of the ocean, in the sub named WHOI which has plans to use the Deepsea Challenger’s cameras and lighting systems on another remote vehicle for expeditions in the Caribbean this summer. These systems were used to capture high-resolution 3-D images of Deepsea Challenger’s dives.

Are there any signs of human inhabitation in a cold cave?

By Jenny Alvarez

In October 1942, Esther Stermer, the matriarch of a Jewish family in the Ukraine, leads her family underground to hide from the pursuing Nazis – and stays nearly a year and a half. Their harrowing story of survival living in near total darkness in two cold, damp caves is one like no other ever told. It was life…like No Place On Earth.

The cinematography complements the telling of this story wonderfully. In the darkness of the caves, dimly lit candles bring hope; black-and-white historical videos and the grey tones from a clouded over sky infuse reality into the setting of the horror-world of the above and is an extraordinary testament to ingenuity, willpower and endurance against all odds. The survivors recount their harrowing experiences in this harsh environment as they learned to find food, water and supplies and built secret escape routes to evade capture or being buried alive. It is really dramatic and unforgettable where family and support for being alive is the most important goal, a well done documentary will touch your heart.

Chris Brown, J.Lo and producer Cory Rooney are together in the studio. Details surrounding their collaboration have not been released, but her hash tags “Studio life”, “Album10″ and”Making history” suggest the duo are working on new material for J.Lo’s 10th album. Her hash tag “SAMEGIRL” may be an indication of said album’s title, especially considering it falls in line with J.Lo’s history of claiming she’s kept true to her Bronx roots.

Everybody has a plan? Try to find it out

Everybody has a plan tells the story of Agustín (Mortensen in a tour-de-force performance), a man desperate to abandon what for him has become, after years of living in Buenos Aires, a very frustrating existence. After the death of his twin brother, Pedro (also played by Mortensen), Agustín decides to start a new life, adopting the identity of his brother and returning to the mysterious region of the Delta, in the Tigre, where they lived when they were boys. However, shortly after his return, Agustín will find himself unwillingly involved in the dangerous criminal world that was a part of his brother’s life.

This film is a dazzling and gripping thriller about contradictions and the costs of freedom with unwritten rules and a code of silence for some characters. Though it offers numerous scenes of violence, and Viggo, despite his slightly weird in some scenes, his acting way was more natural and believable than almost everyone else and executes some real Aragorn-esque vibes near the end. If you ask me if this movie worth it, my truly response would be this actor possessed good charisma based on his aggressively subdued work here and as good Latin film lover, you might see this movie even if the script is not as good as you think but is a good effort in all senses. You will have the last word! The film opens in New York City on Friday, March 22.

Starbuck is a Donor Unknown causing genetic chaos

By Jenny Alvarez

Starbuck was co-written and directed by Ken Scott, who penned the screenplay with Martin Petit, the film stars Patrick Huard as David Wozniak, a 42-year old lovable but perpetual screw up who finally decides to take control of his life.  A habitual sperm donor in his youth, he discovers that he’s the biological father of 533 children, 142 of whom are trying to force the fertility clinic to reveal the true identity of the prolific donor code-named Starbuck.

Produced by André Rouleau, the film also stars Julie Le Breton, as David’s long suffering girlfriend who suddenly finds herself pregnant and understandably reluctant to share parenthood with the unreliable David, and Antoine Bertrand, David’s longtime friend, Paul, an attorney who takes on his case while trying to disabuse him of the joys of parenthood.

It’s a story hugely sentimental full of unexpected reactions of some characters but plenty of charm and great humor sense. Mainly with anonymity laws have changed and 142 of these young adults want to meet him what is he going to do? Is he will be out of this intriguingly bizarre situation? Just see it because is really enjoyable French Canadian film will be will release on March 22 in Los Angeles and New York, with a national rollout to follow.
