When there is an attempted assassination of the president of the United States, who falls into a coma: Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), his trusted confidant, secret service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), is unjustly charged and taken into custody . After escaping capture, he becomes a man on the run and must evade his own agency and outwit the FBI to find the true threat to the president. Desperate to discover the truth, Banning draws on unlikely allies to help him clear his name, prevent his family from suffering damage and save the country from imminent danger.
