Rush Announce R40 LIVE 40th Anniversary Tour visiting 34 Cities Throughout North America in 2015

By GalaTView Staff

Celebrating 40 years, RUSH: R40 LIVE TOUR will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer beginning May 8 in Tulsa, Okla. and finishing Aug. 1 in Los Angeles, Calif. These not-to-be-missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music.

Over the course of their amazing career, Rush has lived a lifetime together, providing an influential soundtrack to many of their fans’ lives. Some have been with them since the start, while others have discovered them along the way and delved into their incredible body of work. To quote Dave Grohl from their momentous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “Rush built their following the right way. No hype, no bullshit, they did it from the ground up. Their legacy is incredible and their influence undeniable.”

After 40 years together and 20 gold and platinum studio albums, Rush is ready to celebrate with the most loyal fans in the world by embarking on their 21st tour, one that will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude. Celebrate four decades of music with three incredible musicians—all in one night.

Rush’s vast catalogue includes such classics as 1974’s self-titled debut, 1976’s 2112, 1981’s Moving Pictures, 1996’s Test For Echo and 2002’s Vapor Trails. Rush released their 20th studio album Clockwork Angels in 2012, via Anthem/Roadrunner Records. The critically acclaimed collection marked their first studio recording since 2007’s Snakes & Arrows, and debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 on the Billboard 200, matching the highest chart debut of the band’s career. Known for their energetic live shows, the most recent Rush release was the R40 collector’s boxset, including live footage spanning all four decades of the trio’s career, with over two hours of unreleased material and a rare performance of the seven-part version of “2112,” packaged in an impressive 52-page hardcover book.

Their longevity has served a pop culture renaissance, with the band’s rare television appearance—their first in over 30 years—on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, tributes on South Park and a memorable cameo in the film I Love You, Man.

A live review from their most recent Clockwork Angels tour boasted: “the power-trio interplay could put guys half their age in the burn ward.” The Globe & Mail declared Rush as “one of the few bands anywhere that just keeps getting better.” A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.”

Rush has been recognized with eight Juno Awards and seven Grammy nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage that also won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The band members were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, made Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. They have received a star on both Canada’s Walk of Fame (1999) and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2010). In 2012, Rush were bestowed with the highest artistic honor in Canada when receiving the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award. To the elation of their fans, Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Chart-topping San Francisco-natives Train are taking their latest hit album Bulletproof Picasso on the road with a 40+ city summer tour across North America with special guests The Fray and Matt Nathanson. The Picasso At The Wheel Summer Tour 2015.Fans across the country in cities such as Los Angeles, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Toronto and Nashville will have a chance to witness the band perform tracks from the new album—including the Top 10 radio single “Angel in Blue Jeans,” “Cadillac, Cadillac” and their new single “Bulletproof Picasso”—along with their many enigmatic, signature hits from the past 20 years.

Fans are also encouraged to show up early for the Patcast Tailgate tent, where Pat Monahan will periodically make an appearance throughout the tour. Located in the venue parking lot each night, ticket-holders can tailgate and enjoy classic rock DJ, give shout-outs to friends on the Patcast (Pat’s weekly podcast), and enter to win various prizes. The Patcast tent will also be the place for fans to register for the Mermaid Costume Contest and a chance to be brought onstage.

Train also announced their new single “Bulletproof Picasso” and its forthcoming music video, which will feature guest stars Emily Kinney (Beth on AMC’s The Walking Dead) and Reid Ewing (Dylan on ABC’s Modern Family).

Bulletproof Picasso—the band’s 7th studio album—debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 in September 2014. Billboard‘s Richard Bienstock says the band’s “wholehearted embrace of pop has unshackled Train, allowing it to revel in anything-goes stylistic tourism” that all feels “oddly cohesive, with the band’s rocker roots showing an impressive pliability to move within pop’s boundaries.”

Train has successfully traveled the nearly-unnavigable path of a contemporary, hit-making rock band while keeping their heads. The climb to the top began in San Francisco in 1994. The original 5-member band tenaciously built a loyal following, leading up to their own self-titled debut album, released by Columbia in 1998. The tumbling wordplay of “Meet Virginia” gave them their first unlikely radio hit, with 2001’s Drops Of Jupiter garnering multi-platinum status thanks to the double-Grammy winning title song that spent 10 months in the Top 40. In their typical ‘you-gotta’-nail-it-down-motherfucker’ style, the quixotic song snared the Best Rock Song trophy by beating out Coldplay and two U2 songs.

The brothers’ relationships in a great film “Private Peaceful”

Private Peaceful, a feature film directed by Pat O’Connor (Dancing at Lughnasa, Sweet November). Adapted from the best-selling novel by former children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo (War Horse), the World War I film stars two of the UK’s most promising young actors, Jack O’Connell (Starred Up, Unbroken) and George Mackay (Pride, Defiance), and features Richard Griffiths’ (The Harry Potter series, The History Boys) final performance.

Class conflict, broken hearts, self-sacrifice in the World War I in a great story of youth of that time which has been very well structured in plot and characters in a scale story. The best part as a viewer was when Charlie marries his brother’s true love. He learns that Thomas loves her and wants her to have his child. It was too late of course, because Charlie was already a father. Disgrace, passion, brotherhood, excites all the feelings and fear by allowing the viewer to sculpt the world is offers.

Midnight’s Children will set you up at night

A film by Oscar®-nominated director Deepa Mehta, based on the universally heralded novel by world-renowned author Salman Rushdie and adapted by Rushdie himself (who also serves as the film’s all-knowing narrator), MIDNIGHT’S CHILDREN is a tale at once sweeping in scope and intimate in tone. Full of heartbreak, hope, comedy, tragedy and a considerable amount of magic, the film conjures characters and images as rich and unforgettable as the vast nation it celebrates.

At the stroke of midnight on August 15th, 1947, as India declares independence from Great Britain, two babies are switched at birth by a nurse in a Bombay hospital. And so it is that Saleem Sinai (portrayed as an adult by SatyaBhabha), the bastard child of a beggar woman, and Shiva, the only son of a wealthy couple, are fated to live the destinies meant for each other. Over the next three decades, Saleem and Shiva find themselves on opposite sides of many a conflict, whether it be because of class, politics, romantic rivalry, or the constantly shifting borders that are drawn every time neighbors become enemies and decide to split their newborn nation into two, and then three, warring countries. Through it all, the lives of Saleem and Shiva are mysteriously intertwined. They are also inextricably linked to the history of India itself, which takes them on a whirlwind journey full of trials, triumphs and disasters.

This movie is at once a fascinating family saga and an astonishing evocation of a vast land and its people–a brilliant incarnation of the universal human comedy. Midnight’s Children stands apart as both an epochal work of fiction and a brilliant performance by one of the great director Deepa who makes a mix of magical thinking and political reality. Despite of certain sensitive topics and passages are crafted with amazing skill, and the narrator is a pleasant enough fellow. Great movie with great Indian taste!

It was a celebration for a councilman Tom Labonge who has done a lot for the L.A. community for the past 40 years, especially helping the Griffith Observatory. Therefore there were few auctions to donate money so was surrounded by many wealthy people and politicians. The event celebrated LaBonge’s distinguished service to the Los Angeles community and his stature as a Star of Stars at Griffith Observatory. Actor Neal McDonough and KTLA 5 Morning News host Lynette Romero were Masters of Ceremony for the festive event. Definitely was a great social event with the best and distinguished people.
