Austenland is full of satire, love and comedy

By GalaTView Staff

“AUSTENLAND” is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes (Keri Russell), a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with all things Jane Austen.  But when she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen–crazed women, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency–era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined.  Based on the novel by Shannon Hale (who also co-wrote the script), the film was written and directed by Jerusha Hess (writer, “Napoleon Dynamite) and produced by Stephenie Meyer’s Fickle Fish Films.

The beginning of the film makes great play of the American fascination with British culture and manners. Jane finds herself in romantic entanglements with two men (the easygoing stableboy and the rude Darcy-like figure).

Even there’s not much sense, and dubious sensibility, in looking for true love at a fantasy camp for fiction fans, the main lesson was any person should not believe in fantasies, but love is the only hope to continue our lives forever.

“Austenland” will release the film on August 16, 2013 in New York and Los Angeles and nationally throughout late August / early September.

Blue Jasmine will mark your perception in life

Starring: Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, Peter Sarsgaard, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, and Louis C.K.

“Blue Jasmine” is a depressing drama in which a life crisis causes a woman to head to San Francisco, where she reconnects with her adoptive sister. She is self-delusion after an affair of her husband and the writer-director’s film-per-year fertility with original screenplays is unrivaled and enormously impressive, but “Blue Jasmine”, in tone and execution, is a Woody Allen film to the core and reflects the times we are living in. Jasmine is a character that many people may not like but Blanchett’s performance along with the rest of the cast transcends easy judgement. The sisters  class differences are explained by a turning point in their adolescences: Ginger was less liked by their adoptive mother, and ran away at an early age, eking out her own living. Jasmine’s M.O. is that she’ll begin a seemingly innocuous story — necessarily about her past life. This fill is full of flash backs and definitely it is a charming story with a fairy-tale quality.

The audience from LA took hats off to all the performers in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey

Photos and video by Jenny Alvarez

This show is well known as the world’s largest show for the whole family and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents his show entitled “BUILT TO AMAZE!” now appearing in Southland, Los Angeles from July 10th to August 4th.There were some remarkable innovations included the split-level trapeze artists, and the lions and tigers perform was so great and the interesting parts of the circus were the tight rope folks, the guys rolling on these spinners, and the acrobats jumping on the wire at the end. Customs were full of different colors and comedy of the clowns was so pure and full of happiness. The live band was musical, with original rhythm in each performance. Finally I would suggest this to anyone who wants to have a great time of any age.
