Academy director Oliver Stone, who brought PlatoonBorn on the Fourth of July, Wall Street and JFK to the big screen, tackles one of the most important and fascinating true stories of the 21st century. Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some and a traitor by others. During 138 minutes, Snowden will be full of political drama, intrigue and one of the best films that develops a debate about national security and privacy. This epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes an unique and realistic conspiratorial thriller for an American citizen considered as hero for some against a capitalist government, considered number one in espionage.

Oliver said in press conference “This is one of the films that I desired return because is a film full of political discharged. This films means to me a lot because it was a topic full of headlines and controversial facts. I also was surprised when I met Snowden in Moscow who is really a child, I really wanted to take care of many details during the script and Snowden’s declarations in an objective way.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt: “When I read headlines, I felt terribly for this guy especially when  in wikileaks had came out with new information about some things done by government and there I was more aware while I get all the process in my mind, something that really helped me out to develop Snowden as a film character.”
